Organiser

Acts as overall coordinator for the event. Selects event site, in conjunction with the course setter. Ensures that relevant permissions to access the event area are obtained. Prepares an event budget. Manages the activity of all event volunteers. Assists the Safety Officer in the preparation of a safety plan for the event This job requires extensive experience as a rogaining competitor and as a volunteer at past events.

Administrator

Admin Assistant

Helps the administrator, particularly on the day of the event. Likely duties include handing out maps, taking registrations, setting up the administration area, organising equipment for the administration area (e.g. marquees, tables, toilets). This job doesn’t require specialist skills.

Course Setter

Designs the overall course and prepares the map. The setter will likely assist in hanging flags in the field. This job requires experience as a rogaining competitor. There may be a team of course setters at some events.

Vetter

Inspects the whole course to ensure that the course is fair and safe for competitors. Checks the accuracy of every checkpoint location and description. This job requires experience as a rogaining competitor and there may be a team of vetters at some events.

Flag Hanging

Put out the flags and Navlight units before the event. This job requires good map-reading skills.

Flag Retrieval

Collect the flags and Navlight units after the event.

Caterer

Prepare a menu, arrange the purchasing of food and drink, and transport this to the event. Supervise the cooking and presentation of the food and drinks at the event. Many of our rogaines work with local community and Scout groups to provide catering.

Hash House Team Member

Assist the caterer before, during and after the event. No specialist skills are required for this job.

Site Staff

Complete roles such as gate attendant, give car parking and camping directions, maintain toilets, and maintain water supply. No specialist skills are required for this job.

Photographer

Takes photographs at the event for display on the website and elsewhere.  If the photographer competes in the event, they may have to give up a little competition time particularly at the start and finish.
