WHAT is Rogaining?

Rogaining is the sport of long distance cross-country navigation, in which teams of two to five people visit as many checkpoints as they wish in a set time period.

who can compete

Rogaining is open to anyone physically able to walk on bush tracks and cross country. How far and how fast is up to you and your team.

what do i need

Having the right equipment can make a your rogaine more enjoyable and safer. If you have outdoor gear then you probably have the gear you will need.

What's in it for me?

Rogaining is an endurance sport, so you whether you compete hard or treat it as an opportunity to go for a wander some where new, you will get a lot of exercise.

You will learn new skills. Not only will you become proficient with a map and compass but you will learn route planning, time manageemnt and how to move through the bush with confidence.

Meet new and interesting people. Rogainers don't care what car you drive or what sort of work you do. Meet people who share a love of the outdoors and have a spirit of adventure.

In modern life we rarely, if ever, have to challenge ourselves. Rogainers challenge themselves and have a strength of will that they can translate to anything they do.

Rogainers work in a teams, often under difficult circumstances. Want to learn how to be part of a team, where you need to learn trust and depend on your team mates.

Rogainers are confident people. Rogainers have an inner strength that comes from pushing your self to the limit over many hours in both daylight and darkness. The confidence learned rogaining translates to everything you do.

Most people live in big cities and never venture far from their cars. Rogainers get to experience the Australian bush in all its beauty; pristine creeks, varied native landscapes, beautiful valleys, magnificent views and the occasional patch of fight scrub.

Our sport relies on people who volunteer. If we have no volunteers, we will have no events. Most people enjoy volunteering because they get to experience new places, new people and new activites without the pressure of competition.
