It seem punch 101 was not working well over the weekend. If you went to Control 101 and you cannot see it in your scores then please let me know webmaster@nswrogaining.org and I will make an adjustment, but please check first as this control has already been added manually to a number of teams.
If one or all of these are yours please let admin@nswrogaining.org know and you can be re-united with your lost property.
Come enjoy a weekend and many a cup-of-tea in Capertee with the NSW Rogaining community! We’ll be using our navigation skills to explore this beautiful part of the country. There will be plenty of route options for all ages, navigational abilities and fitness levels.
Were you with us in Rydal in June? This event is a fantastic progression to apply the skills learnt at the Navigation Workshop and 2024 Paddy Pallin Rogaine in Rydal.
Our starting and finishing area, called the Hash House (HH), will be in the very special Capertee Valley. This is the second widest canyon in the world, and wider than Arizona’s Grand Canyon.
Head back to the HH when you are ready for sleep and sustenance, or a chat around the campfire. 1st North Sydney Scout Group will be serving hot food and drinks at the HH from Saturday dinner time until Sunday lunch time after the course closes.
Capertee NP protects a range of wildlife and plants found nowhere else on earth. The area is renowned for some of the best birdwatching in NSW. The protected woodlands along the fertile river flats attract regent honeyeaters, woodland birds, and birdwatching enthusiasts alike. The park is also home to native Australian wildlife like kangaroos, wallaroos, wallabies and gliders.
This event will take place over 24 hours where teams of 2 to 5 people can be out on course from midday on Saturday to midday on Sunday. You can choose to enter the 6 hour rogaine, the 15-in-24 hour Roving rogaine or the traditional 24-hour rogaine. (incorporating the NSW Rogaining Championship).
The Hash House (HH) is fairly central to the course, giving options for returning to the HH during the event and going back out on the course without going over the same ground again. The HH kitchen will operate all night (there will be no separate All Night Cafe this year).
If you enter the 15-in-24 hour Roving event, you can spend up to a total of 15 hours on the course. This means you can enjoy the bush and then return to the Hash House (HH) for food, a cup of tea, camaraderie around the campfire, a decent sleep and then head back out in the morning for more bush time! You can return to the HH multiple times, you just need to check-in and check-out each time and ensure you spend less than 15 hours out on the course.
Entering the 24-hour event doesn’t mean you have to stay out the whole time! You can return to the HH at any time for food (available from Saturday night), campfire, and sleep. This event choice means there is no limit to how long you are out on the course – just make it up as you go but ensure you are back by midday on Sunday! You can even sign up for the 24-hour event and only spend 8 hours out on the course – there is no minimum time, only a maximum time.
If you want a chance to be the 2024 NSW Rogaining Champions for your team category you’ll need to sign up to the 24-hour event.
But wait, there is more! We are also offering a 6 hour rogaine from 12pm to 6pm on Saturday. You’ll arrive back in time for a hearty meal and a full night’s sleep.
This event will take place in Capertee National Park, located west of the Blue Mountains. The Hash House will be ~1 hour from Capertee and ~40 minutes from Rylstone.
For those who can stay longer, help to bring in controls after the event is very welcome.
These will be released on this event page on Monday September 16. Please note that for this event National Parks requires all teams to carry a trowel. The final details will include further details on the location, event day, and much much more.
In the meantime, you can check out the Novice Info Pages for advice on what gear to bring, what to expect at a bush event, and other information.
A fun team sport, navigating using map, compass and clues to visit as many checkpoints as possible within the time limit. It’s a “choose your own adventure” experience in outdoor environments where teams explore the course for as much or as little of the allocated time as they like.
Our sport is for all ages and fitness levels, from families walking with small children through to bushwalkers and runners. Rogaining encourages the development of strategy and navigational skills, fitness, and the ability to work in a team.
