Event overview

Get ready for a proper nightgaine adventure throuh Berowra Valley National Park, spilling out into Cherrybrook and Pennant Hills. Running entirely on established tracks in line with NPWS requirements, this course still packs plenty of bite — there’s a maze of trails out there, and if your concentration slips, the bush will punish you.

This is the perfect event to launch your night navigation career. Play it safe with mostly street running and the occasional bush track, or send it and dive into some serious tricky night nav on faint, hard-to-find trails. For the sharpest navigators and fastest movers, clearing the course in 5 hours will be a real challenge.

Expect:
🔥 Tricky, confidence testing navigation

🌲 Stunning bushland after dark

🧭 Endless route choice, catering for street cruisers or full bush warriors

🏛️ Cool local historical features hidden in plain sight

The sun sets at 5:12 pm, so darkness will fall early and fast, headlamps on, brains engaged. This one’s all about smart decisions, steady nerves, and owning the night.

What is rogaining?

A fun team sport, navigating using map, compass and clues to visit as many checkpoints as possible within the time limit. It’s a “choose your own adventure” experience in outdoor environments where teams explore the course for as much or as little of the allocated time as they like.

Our sport is for all ages and fitness levels, from families walking with small children through to bushwalkers and runners. Rogaining encourages the development of strategy and navigational skills, fitness, and the ability to work in a team.
