Lake Macquarie 6/12hr – Results now Online!

Saturday, August 21st saw a spectacular day with almost 150 teams lining up to start the 25th anniversary Lake Macquarie 6/12 hour rogaine. The course saw a large variety of terrain types and competitors, but there were smiles all around at the start and finish.

Open Women (12h) Winners Rochelle, Nicole & Ellen

Well done to overall winners of the 6hr event, Andrew Brown & Robert Bennett, taking 1340 points, and the 12hr event, Matt Bacon & Steve Todkill with 2130.

Thanks to Bob Gilbert and Bert van Netten for putting on not only this year’s great event, but both have been the key force to a good portion of the 24 previous LM events that have occurred since 1992. As a tribute to this grand scale of effort, Julian Ledger has written a piece in the forum about the evolution of this event – check it out here!

Spring Rogaine & NSW Championships (8/24h) – 15-16th October

David Williams & Ronnie Taib will be hosting this year’s State Championships that will take place in previously uncharted country (at least as far as rogaining is concerned) not far from Jenolan Caves in the western Blue Mountains, about 3-3.5 hours drive from Sydney and Canberra. There will be a shorter 8hr event running alongside the full 24hr, with all levels catered for from novices, families and social rogainers, to mountain masochists and world champions.

Note that due to the sensitive nature of the ecological communities in the vicinity of the HH, participant numbers have been capped at 250.

You can use the contact address to volunteer with course setting (flag hanging or retrieval) and we always need helpers around the Hash House.

Entries will open at Sunday 4th September at midday here ....

We will run a bus from Sydney CBD to the event site on Friday afternoon, returning Sunday afternoon. This is a great way to travel to and from the Champs, meeting fellow rogainers on the way there, sleeping on the way back, and for an estimated $40 for a return trip, is very economical. The bus schedule will be on the event website prior to registration opening.

Australasian Rogaining Championships – 17-18 September - Entries Still Open!

The Australasian Championship for 2016 is on 17-18 September, hosted by the Western Australian Rogaining Association. The event location is Nannup, 3.5 hours south from Perth.

On offer is a course with a wide range of terrain. About 60% of the map is forest including recently cleared pine plantation, old growth pine plantation and long ago logged Karri and Jarrah forest. The remaining 40% of the map is farmland: a mixture of sparsely vegetated paddocks and blue gum plantation.

Call for Volunteers

Our sport depends on people contributing time and energy to the organisation of our events.  See the volunteers calendar and if you’d like to put your hand up, or know more about roles please get in touch with Graham Field or contact the event organiser.

Not ready for a major role? How about helping out as an assistant to the registration team or event organiser? There are also other odd jobs that require assistance during the year such as equipment maintenance, trailer towing, administrative tasks (such as searching for a better insurance deal), etc.
