Garigal 6hr Socialgaine, Sunday 24th November - Entries Close Monday!

The final event on the NSWRA calendar, headquartered at Belrose Public School for the year will have entries close tomorrow Monday 18th so don't miss out!

Garigal National Park is located in the northern part of Sydney and the area for the Socialgaine will include beautiful and varied forests, cool streams with big rock platforms, magnificent views and some challenging terrain. As well as the National Park the course includes lots of suburban parks and paths in the Belrose and Frenchs Forest area for less adventurous teams.

Lake Macquarie Paddle & Promenade Rogaine - Report, Results and Photos on the website!

Well the ship has sailed! Thanks to Margaret and Cap'n Geoff Peel for the concept, course and coordination, and all the volunteers who put on the inaugural Paddle & Promenade - on all accounts, a great success. Also well done to the 84 entrants who took on the water wonderland of Lake Macquarie.

The Point Score series has also now been updated to reflect the recent event.

Aus Champs "Binalong Day and Night", Tasmania - Results & Photos here

Last weekend a large contingent of NSW rogainers ventured down to the island state to take part in the 2019 Australasian Rogaining Championships, held near St Helens on what was a stunning event put on by former Waratah Peter Tuft and Rogaining Tasmania. It was a massive, challenging course with lots of route options and a wide variety of terrain ranging from ultra thick vegetation to nice rolling hills and a good network of tracks.

Well done to everyone who made the effort to go down and support the event. Although we just missed out on the interstate/territory trophy thanks to our rivals from ACT, NSW had some stellar results - 7 of the top 10 teams had at least one "Waratah" in them! And we got many podiums including:

  • Tristan White and Mike Hotchkis (who celebrated his 60th birthday on the course!), 3rd in Men's Open.
  • Gill Fowler and Tasmanian teammate Joanna Sinclair, 1st in Women's.
  • Andrew Smith and Antoniya Bachvarova, 3rd in Mixed & 2nd in Mixed Veteran. Best wishes for the NZ champs next weekend!
  • Joel Mackay & Andrew Black, 3rd in Men's Veterans.
  • Andy Macqueen& Ian Brown, 1st in Men's Super Veterans (Ian's 65th birthday being a week too late stopped them taking out the Ultra Vets as well)

Do you want to hear more about how the event went? Enter the Socialgaine and chat to participants about their experiences before, during (remember, it's *social*!) or after the event!
