Lake Macquarie 6 and 12 Hour  - Entries close on Monday at midnight
Entries close on Monday night for next Saturday's 12 hr or 6 hr rogaine to be held in the Watagan Mountains about 90 to 110 mins north of Sydney CBD.

Large areas of the course open into stands of spotted gum, turpentine and ironbark. There are stunning spurs and gullies with gymea lillies abound, banksias in the drier flats, and amazing bangalow palm forests in some creeks.

There are many unsealed roads, 4WD tracks and foot single trails criss-crossing the course to allow easy access to different parts of the forest before careful navigation into checkpoints.

No matter which route you choose to follow there are plenty of checkpoints boasting spectacular views and there will be a tea and damper on the map and water drops.
Two options will be available – a 12 hour event with an 11am start and a 6 hour event with a midday start.

Australian Champs at Goobang
Everyone is welcome to compete at the Australian Rogaining Championships at Goobang near Parkes to be held on 30th Sept - 1st Oct 2023. There will be two events the 24 hour championship event and an 8 hour non championship event.

A few years back, after winning the NSW Champs with Ronnie Taib, David Williams wrote, "We didn’t spend too much time on roads, which to me is the hallmark of good rogaines."  And that is a solid indicator of what we can expect at the upcoming Australian Championships, with David and Ronnie setting the course.
Goobang National Park is a special place, on The Edge of the central tablelands, looming above the western plains.  As a NSW rogainer who lives nearby in Parkes and a regular visitor to the Park, Lucy Alexus describes Goobang as "Gorgeous!"
The course is now set and vetted, and we are looking forward to sharing it, with entries slowly building from around Australia and overseas.

On a related subject ... we need as many NSW rogainers as possible in the 24-hour event, so that we can dominate the Interstate Challenge.  (Points are not awarded in the 8-hour; we need you in the 24-hour.)
The event will also incorporate the Intervarsity Championships, for teams containing students from the same university.  Funding is available for one team from each state to cover their transport costs.  Read more on the event website.
It's a big weekend, coinciding with the October long weekend, the start of NSW school holidays, the switch to daylight saving (hence an 11am start on Saturday), and the AFL Grand Final.  But the best thing you can do is to create your own Goobang adventure .
